Everton fans will get Roberto Martinez sacked at Everton, says Paul Merson

The Blues boss is under increased pressure at Goodison Park following a poor season

Pressure from Everton’s unhappy fans will eventually get Roberto Martinez the sack, Paul Merson has told Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, broadcast from 12pm April 9th.

The Spaniard is under increasing pressure at Goodison Park following another disappoint campaign in the Premier League.

Following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Watford they sit 14th in the table and yet to reach the 40 point mark, despite boasting a squad full of talent.

The Goodison Park faithful has started to turn on their manager as a result, with some displaying banners calling for his sacking against the Hornets.

And Merson says that it will be them that make the board decide on his future, saying the FA Cup semi final is now huge football game.

“I think the FA Cup semi final is a big football match,” he told Soccer Saturday.

“The fans get you the sack, it’s very rare the fans are cheering your name and you get the sack and there’s a lot more going against him now.”

“I think it all comes down to the semi final, the boos will be so loud if they didn’t win against West Ham or Manchester United.”

That semi final clash certainly seems to be crucial to Roberto Martinez’s future a Goodison Park.

Even if they were to progress to the final of the competition, and then win it, there is still likely to be a large number of fans calling for his head.

There is no denying that they hugely underachieved this season, especially given they have the third highest goalscorer in the division in their ranks.

And that could see his time on Merseyside brought to an end, especially given there is a new major shareholder at the club in Farhad Moshiri.
