The Owls fans were not impressed with the centre-back.
Sheffield Wednesday’s excellent form came to a crushing halt yesterday as The Owls were put to the sword at Bristol City.
The home side are battling relegation and Sheffield Wednesday are in the hunt for promotion, however today it would have been easy to confuse matters opposite.
An own goal from Liam Palmer and goals from Bobby Reid, Lee Tomlin and Jonathan Kodjia saw Bristol 4-0 up after 52 minutes. An own goal from Richard O’Donnell proved nothing but a consolation for Wednesday.
Sheffield Wednesday came into the game on the back of four consecutive wins. But it was squad rotation that had Sheffield Wednesday fans livid on social media.
One player who came in was centre-back Michael Turner.
The 32-year-old is behind the likes of Tom Lees, Glen Loovens and Vincent Sasso in the pecking order at Wednesday and the Owls fans like it that way.
But Carlos Carvalhal likes to rotate the squad and Turner came on for his first Championship start since the defeat to Rotherham United at the start of last month.
In fact, Turner has only played in three wins from his 10 appearances in the Championship this season.
Wednesday fans were clear on Twitter, they would not like to see him start again…
#swfc I'd like to see our win ratio when Turner plays. Think he's played at least 3 of last 4 we have lost? Coincidence?— Paul Elkerton (@pelk86) April 9, 2016
Poor all round but I'd be disappointed if Turner plays for us again. #swfc— Wondering Wednesday (@swfc1867_) April 9, 2016
Not saying it because we're 4-0 down but Michael Turner shouldn't have played for us ever again after Shrewsbury, don't rate him #swfc— Ash Finney (@AshFinney1) April 9, 2016
Game over. Palmer pathetic. Turner isn't a footballer. To make it worse these are awful— Brad (@bw_swfc) April 9, 2016
Why is Michael turner anywhere near a football pitch? Mans about 51— ash (@ab_swfc) April 9, 2016
Part of me hopes we get slapped 6-0 so Carlos actually realises he shouldn't rotate the squad, and shouldn't play Palmer, Turner or Pudil.— Brodie (@Jordan_Swfc) April 9, 2016
Honestly wouldn't be bothered if Michael Turner never played another game for us. Looked like a comedy club at the back today #Swfc— Danny James Haywood (@DanJamesHaywood) April 9, 2016
Turner is a joke...how did he become a footballer— Brad (@bw_swfc) April 9, 2016
Michael Turner is a awful footballer.— Oliver Spencer-Brunt (@oliver_swfc) April 9, 2016
