The Tottenham legend has been discussing the 24-year-old Argentine.
Indeed, King feels the 'Argentine connection' has helped in that Mauricio Pochettino has gotten more out of the forward.
And he also believes Lamela has made a key realisation: that you don't get much time on the ball in the Premier League and must therefore react much quicker.
King told Sky Sports on Sunday afternoon: "The Argentine connection has helped. He’s realised you don’t get much time on the ball in the Premier League."
Many were quick to criticise Lamela after he missed a sitter in the first half. Stuart Pearce criticised the Spurs forward for the BBC, while Alan Sugar slammed him on Twitter.
Many fans no doubt expressed their frustration on social media and in the stands, too.
But the Tottenham man atoned for his error and has generally had more good moments than bad this season.
The north London side were irresistible in the second half against Manchester United. But it also showed just how far United have fallen. Tottenham, right now, are simply a class (or two) above.
