Celtic beat Motherwell 2-1 on Saturday afternoon...
Celtic moved one step closer to winning the Scottish Premiership title having beaten Motherwell 2-1 at Fir Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Bhoys have been looking to fend off Aberdeen at the top of the table, and after the Dons lost 2-1 at Hearts on Friday evening, Celtic took full advantage less than 24 hours later.
Leigh Griffiths missed a penalty against Motherwell before opening the scoring with a smart finish, but ex-Bhoys forward Scott McDonald swooped to score against his former side.
However, Griffiths then atoned for his penalty miss by scoring the winning goal, with his shot from the edge of the box squirming through the hands of goalkeeper Connor Ripley.
The result means Celtic are now eight points clear of Aberdeen, and Ronny Deila's players took to Twitter at full time to give their reactions to the performance.
Defender Erik Sviatchenko, who missed out through injury, celebrated on Twitter after the win, as he looks to get himself back in contention for next weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Old Firm rivals Rangers.
Striker Colin Kazim-Richards posted a photo of himself from the game, whilst goalscorer Griffiths admitted that he is 'shocking' at penalties, having had yet another one saved on Saturday.
My penalty taking is shocking. Massive win for us and good to be back scoring. Fans were incredible. On to next week now— leigh griffiths (@Leighgriff09) April 9, 2016
