How Tottenham Hotspur revelation Eric Dier transferring to Bayern Munich could benefit Manchester City

Bayern Munich have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier.

According to Bild, Bayern Munich are eyeing a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier.

The England international has experienced a superb campaign at White Hart Lane, playing the majority of the season as a holding midfielder and excelling alongside Mousa Dembele.

Dier’s superb performances have earned him international recognition, and during his latest outings for England he managed to notch a last-minute winner against world champions Germany in Berlin.

It has been some progress for the former Sporting Lisbon man, and recent reports claim that he has emerged as a shock target for Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga giants look to strengthen their midfield.

Dier leaving Spurs would naturally be a blow to Mauricio Pochettino’s side, yet one Premier League club who could benefit greatly from a proposed Dier-Bayern deal is fellow title challengers Manchester City.

The Citizens have experienced a poor league campaign this year, and this coming summer will be one of many changes at the club as Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is to replace Manuel Pellegrini in charge.

Many have speculated which players will remain at City and which will be shown the door, but if there is one guarantee it is that Guardiola will seek to bring in at least a few new faces who fit his style of play.

And it would come as a little shock if one of those new players are either Thiago Alcantara or Xabi Alonso.

The Spanish duo joined Munich largely due to Guardiola, and it will now be interesting to see whether their ties are more towards him or the club when the former Barcelona boss departs the Allianz Arena this summer.

Dier joining Munich would undoubtedly leave the Bavarian side with somewhat of a surplus in midfield, and it could pave the way for one or two to follow Pep on his new adventure at the Etihad Stadium.
