Arsenal emerging star Alex Iwobi names his season highlight

The youngster says playing against Barcelona was a crazy moment for him.

Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi says playing against Barcelona is his personal highlight of the season, in comments to the club’s official website.

The youngster has been handed his chance in the first team squad this season after impressing in the club’s youth ranks. He has since broken into the first team, making his full debut against the Champions League holders in the Nou Camp.

He then followed that up with his first Premier League goal on his first start in the win over Everton, before notching again against Watford last weekend.

And when asked to pick his season highlight, he admits playing against Barcelona tops those two other moments.

“My personal highlight [this season] would definitely be playing against Barcelona, that was the craziest feeling,” he told Arsenal Player.

“My first start in the Champions League, and it is against Barcelona at the Nou Camp. It is the highlight of my life, let alone the season.

“I just saw Neymar and Luis Suarez and Dani Alves was shaking everyone’s hand. Lionel Messi came out last and you see everyone like ‘Messi, Messi, Messi.’ It was crazy, it was crazy playing against them.”

Iwobi will now be hoping to add more memorable moments to his collection between now and the end of the season.

It certainly appears as if Arsene Wenger is willing to give him his chance, having stuck with him ahead of other established stars in recent weeks.

And given how he has impressed alongside the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, there is no reason for his manager to drop him just yet.
