Report: West Brom and Everton both chasing Swedish international Pontus Jansson

The Swede is struggling to start regularly at Torino.

Reports are suggesting that both West Brom and Everton are interested in the same central defender for the summer.

The Express and Star is reporting that sources in Italy are suggesting that both West Brom and Everton are keen on the Torino defender Pontus Jansson.

They claim the Premier League duo are joining Bundesliga sides VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Monchengladbach in the hunt for the Swedish defender.

West Brom will be looking to bring in another defender in the summer to strengthen their options – especially with Jonas Olsson and Gareth McAuley getting on a bit.

Everton on the other hand desperately need a new defender or two after a shocking season at the back for The Toffees.

Jansson would be a solid option to shore up the back.

The Swedish international joined Torino in 2014 but has struggled to be a regular at the club.

Torino are blessed for centre-back options and with that in mind Jansson has played just six times for the club this summer.

So whether either Premier League team will be willing to bring in a player not good enough for Torino will remain to be seen.
