According to German newspaper Kicker, Manchester United are keen to bring in Wolfsburg's veteran defender Naldo at the end of the season.
United have long been looking for solutions at centre back, with the Red Devils seeking a virtually impenetrable partnership like Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand were under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Whilst Chris Smalling has emerged as a top centre back, the likes of Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones have yet to prove that they are long-term options in the heart of the United defence.
Now, German newspaper Kicker suggest that United are looking for an experienced, proven centre back to play alongside Smalling, and Wolfsburg ace Naldo is their top target for that role.
Naldo, 33, emerged in Brazil with RS Futebol and Juventude, before becoming a star with German side Werder Bremen, and then moving on to their Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg in 2012.
The 6ft 6in centre back possesses incredible strength, aerial ability and reading of the game, and he is currently playing a key role for Wolfsburg in the Champions League, having featured in the 2-0 win over Real Madrid earlier this week.
It's claimed that, with Naldo's contract ending in 2017, Wolfsburg have a decision to make this summer; sell the defender who is advancing in age, or look to extend his contract further into his 30's.
United fans may not be so keen to sign a player over the age of 30 after the struggles of Bastian Schweinsteiger, but it seems that the Red Devils are keen on Naldo - even though confusion surrounds who will be in charge of the club next season.
