St James Park

Newcastle United suffered a 3-1 defeat to Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Micky Quinn has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Newcastle United’s defeat to Southampton away from home on Saturday afternoon.

Newcastle failed to return to winning ways in the Premier League, as they went down 3-1 to the Saints at St. Mary’s Stadium.

The Magpies were never in the game and did not deserve to get anything from the match.

Former Newcastle forward Quinn was far from impressed with the performance of Rafael Benitez’s side and summed it up in one word: “pathetic.”

The Englishman has also highlighted Newcastle’s terrible record away from home this season.

The defeat to Southampton has enhanced Newcastle’s chances of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.

The Magpies are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 25 points from 32 matches.

Benitez’s side are six points behind 17th-placed Norwich, and things are looking bleak for them.
