Mark Warburton highlights what Rangers don't want to do with summer transfer targets

Rangers boss Mark Warburton doesn't want to unsettle his summer transfer targets.

Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told the club's official YouTube channel that he doesn't want to unsettle any of the club's summer transfer targets.

The Gers sealed promotion to the Scottish Premiership on Tuesday night, as a 1-0 win over Dumbarton - thanks to James Tavernier's goal - handed them the Scottish Championship title.

This weekend, Rangers face Peterhead in the Petrofac Training Cup final at Hampden Park, with the chance of more silverware for Warburton's men, and next week they then take on Old Firm rivals Celtic in a much-anticipated Scottish Cup semi-final clash.

A stunning treble is therefore available for Rangers, and it could be a historic end to the season for Warburton, who will be hoping for a strong end to the campaign ahead of next season.

His preparations for next term will of course involve summer signings, with Rangers certainly needing some new faces to make an impact in the top flight next season.

Manager Warburton spoke about that situation in an interview on the club's official YouTube channel, suggesting that some of his targets are still playing for their clubs, and he doesn't want to make moves for them just yet as he wouldn't want to unsettle anybody.

Warburton admitted that preparation has already been done for his targets, but Rangers will decide when is the right time to make a move - and now is not that time.

"Targets are still playing in leagues and whatever else so we have to make sure we don't impact that", said Warburton. "We will try and get the preparatory work done now and when the time is right make the move. You hope if you can get three out of five or four out of seven targets you will be in good shape."
