The Manchester United players were training on Friday ahead of the Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur away from home this weekend.
United will take on Tottenham at White Hart Lane in North London on Sunday evening.
It will be an important match for the Red Devils in their quest to finish in the top four and play Champions League football next season.
One of the players who will miss the match is Wayne Rooney, but the England international forward was training with his teammates on Friday.
The 30-year-old has not featured for United since the 2-1 defeat at Sunderland in mid-February due to injury, but the captain is edging closer to a first-team return.
Rooney trained with the first team on Friday, with Van Gaal telling United’s official website that the former Everton man will play for the club's Under-21 side on Monday.
Van Gaal was also caught on camera looking pleased to have the Englishman in training (see photos below).
The forward has scored seven goals and cerated 34 chances in 22 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils so far this season.
