The 20-year-old Australian came off at half-time for Villa.
Villa lost 2-1 to the Cherries and defeat was never in doubt before, during or after the game.
But what Villa can influence now, if not results, is their future. That means giving valuable game time and experience to their younger players.
However, all Lyden got was 45 minutes, with the 20-year-old Australian hooked in favour of Rudy Gestede at half-time.
That infuriated plenty of Aston Villa fans on Twitter, who simply want to see some of their youth players given a chance - considering the fact so many senior players simply haven't been up to scratch this season.
Here, then, is how the Villa faithful reacted on social media, as more baffling decision making took place at Villa Park on Saturday... Hopefully Lyden's confidence won't have suffered too much...
Eric Black is a disgrace, don't play Lyden then hook him at ht. Out of order not his fault. What's that gonna have done 4 him. Get out— David Wilde (@avfc_david) April 9, 2016
The imbecility continues - takes off Lyden instead of Sinclair, or Westwood, or Bacuna, or anyone else except Ayew and Clark #avfc— Son Lyme (@Son_Lyme) April 9, 2016
Why sacrifice Lyden? Need to try and give the youth as much experience as possible! #AVFC— Jacob Davies (@JacobD93) April 9, 2016
Nice to see Lescott is helping the youngsters. Laying into Lyden after 15 minutes. That's after he had made an error. #avfc— Matt Lynch (@mattlyynch) April 9, 2016
