Time for £22m Tottenham Hotspur signing Heung-Min Son to step up

Tottenham Hotspur spent big money on Heung-Min Son, and need him to start contributing to their Premier League title chase.

Heung-Min Son had a bright start to life at Tottenham after his £22 million move from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, but in the second half of the season he has faded.

Spurs are battling to win the Premier League title and chase down Leicester City, seven points back with just over a month to go.

It is time the South Korean stepped up and started proving why he was worth such a huge outlay, and taking some of the pressure off striker Harry Kane.

He has had his moments since arriving, and impressed particularly in the Europa League group stages, also scoring an impressive winner against Watford in December.

Since then it has not been easy for him, with Son's two goals since coming in the FA Cup win over Leicester, and a consolation against Borussia Dortmund.

In the Premier League he has not provided a single goal or assist in 2016, and really it is about time that changed.

Son is a popular member of the Spurs squad, and with a contract until 2020, he is likely to play an important role for the club for several years to come.

Yet with six games left of the Premier League this season, Tottenham need him to start contributing immediately, ideally against Manchester United this Sunday.
