Former West Ham United and Leicester City defender Chris Powell predicted on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 10am, April 8) that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will win the Golden Boot this season.
The England international striker has been in brilliant form so far this season and has scored 22 goals in 32 Premier League appearances for Tottenham.
The 22-year-old has a great chance of finishing the season as the top scorer in the English top flight.
Powell believes that Kane will win the Premier League Golden Boot award, but he does not expect the youngster to lead Spurs to title glory.
“I don’t think so,” said the former England international on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 10am, April 8) when asked if Kane’s goals would be enough to guide Tottenham to the Premier League title.
“He has been exceptional, he has been outstanding. He has been a joy to watch, Harry Kane, because what he does (is) he takes shots from everywhere, he shoots all the time.
“I feel he will win the Golden Boot, but I just feel it will be just a bit short for Spurs to actually win the title. I just feel with the way Leicester are playing, Vardy, seven points ahead, I just think it’s too big a gap to make up.”
Tottenham are seven points behind league leaders Leicester City in the table at the moment.
Leicester are showing no signs of slowing down, and it looks unlikely that they will suffer a major collapse in the final weeks of the season.
Even if Spurs fail to win the Premier League title, it will have been a fantastic and hugely successful season for Kane, especially if he wins the Premier League Golden Boot.
