The Pescara striker has been scoring goals for fun in recent years.
Tottenham Hotspur’s excellent season this term will count for very little if they do not build on it for next season.
With that in mind the club need to start planning their transfer business for the summer. One position in which they will surely strengthen is up front.
Harry Kane is currently the only out-and-out striker at the club and Spurs have been linked with a plethora of different potential striking options.
Today a new name can be added to that list.
It is being reported in Italy that Tottenham are keen on the signature of Pescara striker Gianluca Lapadula.
La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting, as relayed by Calcio Mercato, that Spurs are joining Juventus and Napoli in the hunt for the striker – who would cost a fee in the region of €5 million (£4 million).
Who is Lapadula?
The 26-year-old striker, who can play for Italy or Peru, has come through the ranks in lower league football in Italy.
He played at Pro Vercelli, Ivrea and then Parma before spending five years out on loan at the likes of Atletico Roma, Ravenna, San Marino, Cesena and Frosinone.
Goal record since 2011
2011-12: San Marino, 24 goals in 35 games
2012: Cesena, 1 goal in 11 games
2013: Frosinone, 0 goals in 6 games
2013-14: Gorica, 14 goals in 32 games
2014-15: Teramo, 24 goals in 41 games
2015-16: Pescara, 20 goals in 34 games
Total: 83 goals in 159 games.
In his last two seasons prior to this one he scored plenty of goals for Slovenian side Gorica and Teramo which saw Pescara decide to sign him in the summer after Parma went bust.
He has scored an impressive 20 goals in Serie B this season, making him the top scorer in the Italian second tier.
A hard working and lethal striker, there is no wonder why Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino must be a fan.
