According to Hurriyet, Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil has held talks with Fenerbahce over a future deal.
The Turkish report claims that Ozil has made no secret of his desire to play for boyhood club Fenerbahce in the future and talks have already begun over a potential switch in the next three years.
The Germany international attacking midfielder joined Arsenal from Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2013.
During his time with the Gunners, Ozil has established himself as one of the Premier League’s better players, and this season he is on course for breaking the record number of assists posted in a single campaign.
Two FA Cups have gone Arsenal’s way since the former Werder Bremen man moved to North London, yet that elusive Premier League title still hasn’t arrived and this season was a huge missed opportunity.
Ozil is a world-class midfielder and a player of his calibre should be in a winning team every season.
Arsenal’s lack of silverware often places them in a vulnerable situation when it comes to holding on to their better players, although in this case it appears that Ozil’s primary interest isn’t trophies.
The Turkish publication Hurriyet claims that the 27-year-old has long been a fan of Fenerbahce and while the club can pay his wages, a switch to Turkey is likely to happen in the not too distant future.
