Prince William desperate for Leicester City to win Premier League title

Bad news for Tottenham and Arsenal...? Leicester City's title challenge has the royal seal of approval.

Second heir to the throne Prince William has told The Times he is desperate for one team in particular to win the Premier League title.

The royal, who fronted England's unsuccessful World Cup 2018 bid, says he wants Leicester City to be successful in their bid to win the trophy.

Leicester are seven points clear at the top of the table with six games to go, on the verge of winning the title, just one year after narrowly avoiding relegation.

It would be one of the most unlikely title wins in English football history, confounding critics who tipped the Foxes to go down at the start of the season.

Prince William told The Times: "I’m dying for Leicester to win. It will be good for the game.”

The royal is an Aston Villa supporter, and so is perhaps hoping something goes right this season from his perspective, and is not with The Queen, his grandmother, who is an Arsenal fan.

The Gunners are one of two teams hoping to derail Leicester's title push, but time is running out for them to do so.

Leicester visit Sunderland this weekend, while Arsenal visit West Ham and second placed Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester United.

If both North London teams lose and Leicester win their game, it could be as good as over.
