Arsenal will take on London rivals West Ham away from home at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The France international attacking midfielder has two goals from free kicks in the Premier League so far this campaign.
The 29-year-old has scored two free-kick goals in the FA Cup for West Ham and one while on international duty with France.
Former West Ham manager Redknapp has suggested that for the Gunners to win the game against Slaven Bilic’s side, they must not conceded free kicks from which Payet would be able to score.
“He scores free-kicks for fun and as a defending side, that is very difficult to stop,” the former Tottenham Hotspur manager wrote in The London Evening Standard about Payet.
“Arsene will be telling his players not to concede silly fouls on the edge of the box because West Ham have a lad who can punish them almost at will.
“Going to ground in a tackle is not an option. That will require a high level of concentration from Arsenal’s defenders and midfielders to restrict Payet’s opportunities to cause them damage from dead-ball situations. If they don’t, Payet could deliver a fatal blow to their title hopes.”
Payet has scored nine goals and created 88 chances in 24 Premier League appearances for West Ham so far this season.
The former Marseille star has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 64%, and has won two headers, 57 dribbles and 14 tackles.
