The two have formed a strong partnership at the heart of the Gunners' defence.
Gabriel has overtaken Per Mertesacker in recent weeks, forming a strong partnership in the heart of the defence alongside the Frenchman.
That has seen the side turn their form around as they look to make a late push for the title, with them having won their last two games against Everton and Watford comfortably.
Manager Arsene Wenger has been impressed by the Brazilian’s performances, recently likening him the Gunners’ number one defender.
And Gabriel says he is happy to be compared to his defensive partner, but concedes he is keen to get to Koscielny’s level at some point.
“I'm really happy to be compared with such a great player,” he told arsenal.com.
“He has been showing throughout the season that he can be one of the best, or is one of the best, defenders in the world.”
“I feel very happy and want to train more and more every day to be better in every match to make sure I can get to his level. I want to become one of the best defenders.”
Gabriel will now be hoping he can continue his strong form between now and the end of the season as his side focus on catching Leicester City.
They will need to win all of their remaining games if they are to do so, with 11 points currently separating the two sides in first and third.
Keeping clean sheets will be essential if such a run is to happen and Gabriel will be keen to ensure it is his name on the teamsheet alongside Koscielny’s.
