Leeds United head coach Steve Evans has told LUTV that Rotherham United’s Neil Warnock should win Championship Manager of the Month award for March.
Both Evans and Warnock have been nominated for the prestigious monthly award, along with Burnley boss Sean Dyche, Cardiff City’s Russell Slade.
The Leeds boss has jokingly suggested that he should not have been nominated for the award because he is the head coach, not a manager.
Evans has also stated that Warnock deserves to win the Championship Manager of the Month award for March.
“I can’t be in that nomination because I am a head coach, I am not a manager,” the Scotsman jokingly told LUTV when asked for his thoughts on his nomination.
“I think for me, though, there only can be one winner, and he beat us last week - Neil Warnock,” added Evans.
It is quite generous of Evans to back Warnock for the award, especially as Leeds had a good month in March.
The West Yorkshire outfit started the month with a 2-1 victory over relegation candidates Bolton Wanderers at Elland Road.
Leeds then defeated promotion-chasing Cardiff City 2-0 away from home at the Cardiff City Stadium, before winning 2-1 against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
The Whites ended the month of March on a negative note, though, as they were hammered 4-1 by Huddersfield Town at Elland Road in the Championship.
Leeds’s performances and results so far this month have been disappointing. Evans’s side lost 2-1 to Rotherham United away from home at the AESSEAL New York Stadium last weekend, and on Tuesday evening, they played out a 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road.
