Philippe Coutinho hails great Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian has been in impressive form for the Reds of late.

Philippe Coutinho has hailed ‘great’ Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino, in comments made to the club’s official website.

The Brazilian forward had struggled earlier in the campaign as he had a slow start in adapting to the Premier League.

Indeed, there were fears that he was set to join the long list of failed Brendan Rodgers signings at the club.

He has turned things around though dramatically, flourishing under Jurgen Klopp and currently standing as their second highest goalscorer this season.

And Coutinho has hailed his compatriot, but insisted he is not the only great forward player they have in their squad.

"Firmino is a great player, as I have said many times,” he told

“It is very good and even easy to play beside him. His quality [is] he is a strong player who scores a lot. So he is a very important player for our team.”

"But he is not the only one, we have Lallana, Sturridge, everybody is playing well. Divock when he enters the game. Christian is a great attacker. We have great players and we hope we are getting better."

Firmino has certainly done well to turn things around at Anfield after his slow start to life in England over the opening couple of months.

That has largely been thanks to the relationships he has started to develop with Coutinho and the likes of Daniel Sturridge in the Reds’ forward line.

In fact, he has often been the difference for the side this season when they have been without their star centre forward again this year.

And Liverpool fans will be hoping he can build on a solid first season next year as they eye a bright future under Jurgen Klopp.
