Matt Le Tissier predicts whether Newcastle United will avoid relegation this season

Newcastle United are currently six points adrift of safety, with just seven games remaining in their Premier League season.

Matt Le Tissier has told Sky Sports News, which was broadcast on the morning of 7th April, that Newcastle United are now in big trouble this season.

The Magpies are currently six points away from the safety, and Le Tissier is not convinced that they will have enough time remaining to save themselves from the drop.

Although the Southampton legend believes that Newcastle could win three of their last seven matches, he still thinks that they will be relegated in May.

“I was having a look at Newcastle’s fixtures and I think they have three games which they can look at and class as winnable games,” Le Tissier. “That would take them to 34 points, and I’m not sure that’s enough to keep them up. They’re in big, big trouble.”

Newcastle appointed Rafael Benitez as manager in a last attempt to save themselves from the drop.

Benitez has taken charge of three Newcastle matches to date, but he is yet to celebrate victory.

Newcastle have been beaten by both Leicester City and Norwich City, while they could only manage a draw against Sunderland.

The Magpies are now winless in their last six games and only a dramatic change of fortunes will see them retain their top flight status.

Newcastle’s next match comes against Southampton at St. Mary’s on Saturday.
