Gary Lineker and Ian Wright rave about Mamadou Sakho on Twitter

The Liverpool defender was on form against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night.

Gary Lineker couldn't help but praise Liverpool centre-back Mamadou Sakho on Thursday night after the Frenchman's superb defensive performance against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League.

The Reds netted a priceless away goal in Germany and Sakho was vital as Liverpool battled against a number of potent Dortmund attacks.

At one point, the centre-back made a sensational block in the first half - and Lineker responded shortly afterwards, praising his defensive skills in the face of an 'awkward' playing style.

Meanwhile, Ian Wright and former Liverpool man Mark Wright were similarly impressed.

They reacted on Twitter to Sakho's block itself, although Dejan Lovren made a similar one minutes later.

Klopp has transformed the Reds' defence within months in a manner Brendan Rodgers couldn't do in years.

The decision to play the hard-working Divock Origi up front was also testament to Klopp's tactical thinking on Thursday. He offered far more than Daniel Sturridge could've off the ball, as good a finisher as Sturridge is.
