David Gold's response when asked whether West Ham United will sell Dimitri Payet this summer

Dimitri Payet has been one of West Ham United's bets players this season.

West Ham United co-owner David Gold has responded defiantly on Twitter, when asked whether he would sell Dimitri Payet to Arsenal.

There have been no suggestions that Arsenal are interested in Payet, but one Gunners fan still wanted to test Gold’s resolve at keeping hold of West Ham’s key attacking midfielder.

And the Hammers owner responded by stating that the days of West Ham losing their best players on the cheap are now over.

Payet has been in wonderful form for West Ham, and he is sure to be in demand this summer.

In January, there were rumours that Payet was attracting interest from cash-rich Chinese clubs, but West Ham responded to these links by offering the 29-year-old an improved deal.

Payet has now committed his future to West Ham, and Slaven BIlic looks set to build his team around the playmaker over the coming years.

West Ham have big plans for the future - with a move to the Olympic Stadium of the horizon - and they are expected to invest heavily in the summer to enhance the quality of their squad.

Payet has scored 12 goals and claimed 11 assists during his first season in English football.
