Former players and pundits have praised Jurgen Klopp on Twitter following Liverpool’s draw with Borussia Dortmund.
Many had expected a tough evening for them against Klopp’s former side after they comfortably dispatched title chasing Tottenham Hotspur in the last round.
Instead, they were highly impressive as a Divock Origi goal saw them take the lead before Mats Hummels equalised just after the break.
It was a result that arguably suited the Reds more than their hosts, and Gary Lineker was keen to praise Klopp, saying he is slowly transforming them as a team.
Excellent result for Liverpool and a terrific performance. Klopp is slowly, but most certainly, transforming this Liverpool side.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) April 7, 2016
He was not the only one who was impressed by the result either, with former star Stan Collymore saying the performance harked back to some of their best European nights.
An excellent away display at a very tough place to go.All to play for going into the second leg but great to have got an away goal— Neil Mellor (@NeilMellor33) April 7, 2016
Liverpool made Dortmund look ordinary. Great performance coupled with a good result. Brilliant night Reds!!— Guillem Balague (@GuillemBalague) April 7, 2016
Liverpool will now be hoping they can secure their progression into the semi finals when the two sides meet at Anfield for the second leg.
They will need to be wary though, at 1-1 the game is finely balanced and Dortmund are certainly of capable of hitting back away from home.
