Alan Pardew makes an interesting claim about Newcastle's loss to Norwich

The Crystal Palace boss has been discussing Norwich's 3-2 win over Newcastle.

Crystal Palace head coach Alan Pardew is wary of Norwich City's form but says Newcastle United could well have beaten them in the Premier League last weekend, according to Sky Sports.

Norwich lost 3-2 at Newcastle but the Palace boss, who faces the same team this week after a lengthy run of games without a win, feels Rafa Benitez's men were in with a chance of victory until the end.

And Pardew is quoted as telling reporters: "Norwich's recent form doesn't concern me but it's more difficult because of the confidence they'll have gained from two wins.

"They played well against Newcastle but it could have been a loss. I expect it to be a tight, tight game. Norwich are a confident team and we need to take it to them."

Crystal Palace face the Canaries knowing defeat would put Norwich on level points with the Eagles.

That would propel Norwich towards safety but, at the same time, drag Palace right into the relegation battle. Ironically, though, Pardew would have loved a win for former club Newcastle against Norwich - it would have left the Magpies and Alex Neil's men both on 28 points.

It's all to play for for both Crystal Palace and Norwich but at least they know their fate is in their own hands. Newcastle, by contrast, are now looking up, willing others to falter.
