The Italian publication claim that Arsenal have been monitoring the progress of the 18-year-old star and talks have already begun with his agent over a potential summer switch to the Emirates.
Locatelli is predominantly a midfielder and impressed as he came through the AC Milan youth ranks.
While quite not breaking through to the first-team picture at the San Siro, Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic is a big fan of the youngster and has singled him out as a key player for the future.
The Gunners are renowned for their astute transfer business when it comes to unknown quantities from abroad and their current first-team eleven consists of players brought through as youngsters.
The likes of Hector Bellerin, Francis Coquelin and Joel Campbell were all signed from abroad and over the past 18 months have featured regularly for Arsene Wenger’s side.
Locatelli is certainly going to be a player to watch out for in the future, and considering Milan’s current status in Serie A, the North London club could be presented with a great opportunity to strike a bargain.
The report goes on to say that Neil Banfield, Arsenal’s chief observer in Italy, has been watching his development carefully and talks are already underway with his agent over a proposed move.
MIlan will no doubt be eager to keep him on their books, yet their current demise as one of Europe’s leading clubs makes them vulnerable to losing their prized jewels to the Premier League and La Liga.
