He may not have ended up at Elland Road, but on-loan Norwich City man Kyle Lafferty is clearly a popular man with Leeds United star Stuart Dallas as the midfielder sent a message of congratulations to the striker on Wednesday afternoon following his debut goal for Birmingham City.
Lafferty was heavily linked with a move to the Yorkshire club last month in the emergency loan window after he publicly announced his intent to leave Carrow Road in search of regular first-team football.
Despite the persistent speculation, a deal for the 28-year-old never materialised and he instead linked up with Gary Rowett's Blues on a deal until the end of the season.
Lafferty showed Leeds fans what they were missing after just 16 minutes of his debut at St. Andrews, slotting in a well-taken opener against Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday night in an eventual 2-1 defeat.
The striker's Northern Ireland teammate Dallas made no efforts to hide his delight at seeing his compatriot find the net, and tweeted the Blues man saying: "Delighted for Kyle Lafferty scoring on his debut last night. Great to see him back playing."

Dallas knows all about Lafferty's ability in front of goal, with the former Rangers man having been his country's top scorer with seven goals in Euro 2016 qualifying over the last couple of years.
Seeing the striker make a lightning start to his time at Birmingham might be difficult for Leeds fans, but it will come as a huge boost for Northern Ireland supporters as he looks to build up a head of steam ahead of the country's first major tournament in 30 years this summer.
