Robert Lewandowski urges Mario Gotze to ignore Liverpool advances

The Bayern Munich star has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer.

Mario Gotze should stay at Bayern Munich for a long time because he is a great player, according to Robert Lewandowski, in comments published via the Liverpool Echo.

The German midfielder has struggled to impress since joining on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in 2013.

He has been linked with an exit from the club this summer, with former manager Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool reportedly keen to bring him to Anfield.

Lewandowski though, says he should remain in Germany and prove that he is good enough to play for Bayern.

“Mario proved during the international break that he is always capable of showing what he can do and that he is a great player,” the Liverpool Echo reports him saying.

“He is a Bayern player and he has plenty of games left until the end of the season to prove that he is good enough for Bayern.”

“He has plenty of time to prove his critics wrong. He should stay at Bayern for a long time because he is a great player.”

While Lewandowski believes that Gotze should stay at the Allianz Arena this summer, there is no denying a move would make sense.

His career has stalled during his time with Bayern as he has failed to compete for a first team place with their plethora of stars, especially under Pep Guardiola.

At Liverpool though he would be among the first choice stars and almost guaranteed a first team place in their attacking line up.

Add in the fact that he enjoyed his best years under Klopp during their Dortmund and it make a move to England the smart option for him.
