Ray Parlour has told TalkSPORT programme the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on 6th April, that Sheffield Wednesday could be the side to watch in the Championship play offs.
Wednesday have steadily climbed up the Championship table throughout the campaign, and they are now in fifth place.
The Owls beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Hillsborough yesterday evening, and Parlour has talked up their chances of getting promoted.
“The form team in those play offs is Sheffield Wednesday,” the former Arsenal midfielder said. “They are flying. They have good players and they’re sitting in a very comfortable position.
“Hull and Brighton may look at it and say that we should have been in those top two. But people like Sheffield Wednesday might be the ones to look at in these play offs.”
Wednesday’s win over Blackburn last night has helped to consolidate their position in the top six.
Carlos Carvalhal’s side are now five points clear of seventh placed Cardiff City, and their form has been very impressive.
Wednesday’s place in the play offs is now looking secure, and they will be looking to keep their impressive run of results up over the rest of the season.
The Yorkshire side’s next match comes against relegation threatened Bristol City at the weekend, meaning that they will be the favourites to pick up the three points again.
