Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has warned his former side on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSPORT, which was broadcast on 6th April, that West Ham United will pose a tough test for them at the weekend.
Arsenal are due to meet the Hammers at Upton Park on Saturday, in a match which will be crucial to both side’s chances this season.
The Gunners’ hopes of winning the Premier League title will be all but over if they lost to West Ham, while Slaven Bilic’s side’s chances of making it into the top four will be very slim if they are beaten.
History would suggest that Arsenal would be the winners, but Parlour believes West Ham are a very strong team now and he has praised every area of their squad.
“Arsenal have a decent record there, but West Ham are a much better side now,” he said.
“They’ve got Lanzini, Payet, Sakho - and they have pace up front. They have a good understanding, with Kouyate in midfield, and Noble. “They’re much better than when we used to play them. It’ll be a cracking game.”
If Arsenal are able to beat West Ham they would put huge pressure on their rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and they would also reduce Leicester City’s lead at the top of the table to six points.
A Hammers win would also serve them well, as they would move level on points with Manchester City in fourth.
West Ham go into the match on the back of a draw with Crystal Palace, while Arsenal won their last outing 4-0 against Watford.
