Report: Leicester City take non-league teenager Charlie Coppola on trial, four others keen

Crystal Palace, Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion are among the clubs reportedly keen on the 16-year-old.

Leicester City have taken Lewes forward Charlie Coppola, who has reportedly caught the eye of Crystal Palace, Southampton and Brighton, on trial, according to the Sun.

The 16-year-old is said to have played in the Foxes' Under-21s' 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Monday, in which two unnamed trialists were named in the starting line up.

Coppola has made one start for Ryman League Lewes so far, and has reportedly snubbed interest from other clubs while he finishes his A-levels.

Brighton, Southampton, Palace and Bournemouth, who've also been linked with the left-footed youngster, each have geography in their favour should Coppola be left with a decision to make

However, he is likely to be encouraged by Leicester's rise, not to mention that of striker Foxes Jamie Vardy, who's gone from non-league reserve to Premier League top scorer and England international in the space of eight years.

Coppola has also represented his country, though only at college level.

Lloyd Jones and Jerome Sinclair were on target for Liverpool at the King Power Stadium.
