Ian Holloway questions whether Mauricio Pochettino deserves credit for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli's rise

Dele Alli has been a revelation for Tottenham Hotspur since joining last summer.

Ian Holloway has questioned whether Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has actually taught Dele Alli anything on Sky Sports News, on the morning of 6th April.

Alli has been an absolute revelation since signing for Spurs last summer from Milton Keynes Dons.

The 19-year-old was expected to be a player who would develop in Spurs’ under-21 side before making the step-up to senior level at a later date, but Alli has impressed so much that he is now an integral attacking player for both club and country.

However, Holloway questions whether Alli’s progression has been as a result of Pochettino’s guidance or simply as a result of the attacking midfielder’s supreme talent.

“Dele Alli, has he really taught him anything? Literally, they plucked him from MK Dons - given him the stage to perform and he’s done it,” the former Queens Park Rangers boss said.

Holloway did give credit to Pochettino for masterminding Tottenham’s success this season.

The Argentine boss has led Tottenham to a wonderful campaign, where they have competed for the Premier League title.

And Holloway predicts that this is just the start of Tottenham’s success over the years ahead.

“I’ve never seen a Tottenham team look so focused and together,” he added. “They’ve got a mojo about them and they all go to work now. They have got a really bright future, and I’m delighted it’s Pochettino who’s doing it as he’s a modern type manager. Hopefully he’ll stay with Tottenham."
