The Rams equalled their biggest win of the season with a rampant victory over the Tigers on Tuesday night.
Derby County reignited their promotion hopes with a bang on Tuesday night as they beat fellow high-flyers Hull City 4-0 at Pride Park on Tuesday night to move four points clear of Cardiff City.
Bradley Johnson opened the scoring when he was in the right place at the right time to convert the rebound after Chris Martin had hit the post, and the midfielder doubled his and the Rams' tally by finishing off a fine team move.
After half-time, Moses Odubajo was sent off for the Tigers for bringing down Tom Ince, and goals from Martin and Craig Bryson added gloss to the scoreline late on.
The victory equals Derby's biggest winning margin this season and propels them fully back into the promotion mix after some disappointing recent results.
Although they beat local rivals Nottingham Forest in their previous home game, Tuesday's win was just their fifth in the last 17 Championship matches since Boxing Day after a poor run of form which saw Paul Clement sacked in early February.
Under his replacement Darren Wassall, the East Midlands club have struggled to find consistency but have at least started to win again, with five victories from the 10 league matches under the current boss.
After the match, Derby players took to Twitter to express their delight at the resounding win and a return to form ahead of the end-of-season run-in.
