Steve Bruce was bitterly disappointed with his sides 4-0 loss at the iPro stadium last night.
Hull City manager Steve Bruce has slammed his side following their 4-0 defeat at promotion rivals Derby County.
"On a big stage tonight, we haven't performed at all to the level I'm used to seeing. In a big top of the table clash, to make the mistakes and errors we made was just bordering on the ridiculous."
Hull have been on a terrible run of form, winning just one game in their last seven Championship outings, and they have seen their hopes of gaining automatic promotion plummet.
Bruce was at a loss when trying to explain their usually solid defending:
"That disappoints me and surprises me because the reason we are at the top end of the league is our ability to defend and defend properly and although there was nothing in it up until the first goal, after that we were all over the place."
Although the results haven't being going the way of the Humberside outfit of late, Bruce has been defending their performances, although last night was an exception to this:
"I've said there has been nothing wrong with the performances, we just haven't scored, but tonight there was something wrong with the performance. I expected us to be better than that tonight."
It was a good bounce-back from Derby, who lost to Cardiff City on Saturday. Their 4-0 win sees them move four points clear of the Welsh club after the Bluebirds were held to a 0-0 draw at league leaders Burnley.
Next up for Hull is a trip to 18th placed Huddersfield on Saturday.
