The highly-rated 20-year-old midfielder completed 60 minutes for Derby’s Under-21 side in their 1-0 victory over Fulham on Monday night.
It was the youngster’s first appearance since sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury on the opening day of the 2015-16 season at Bolton Wanderers.
Hughes has taken to Twitter to express his delight at his comeback, with Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Jordan Graham, who is on the sidelines at the moment with an ACL tear, congratulating him on the social networking site.
@wjhughes19 so buzzing for you bro keep working hard mate— Jordan Graham (@JordanG_14) April 5, 2016
Hughes is a very talented young midfielder, and he has been missed by Derby. The England Under-21 international has already made over 100 league appearances for the Rams, and it is clear that he is rated very highly at the club.
During the 2014-15 season, Hughes scored two goals and created 46 chances in 42 Championship matches.
The midfielder had a pass accuracy of 86% and a shot accuracy of 43%, and won 11 headers, 29 dribbles and 74 tackles.
Meanwhile, winger Graham scored one goal and created 27 chances in 11 Championship matches for Wolves this season before he suffered his injury.
