The two were impressive together in their side's 0-0 draw over the weekend.
The defender has been in impressive form for the Black Cats since moving to the North East from FC Lorient in the January transfer window.
He was in particularly fine form on the weekend as he paired up alongside Kaboul to help his side to a 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion.
While a point was not what they wanted in their relegation battle, a clean sheet was very much welcome given their defensive struggles this year.
And Kaboul has praised Kone, adding that he hopes he will be rewarded with Premier League survival at the end of the season.
“Lamine is a great centre back,” he told safc.com.
“He is strong, quick and it is a pleasure to play in this team so hopefully we can be rewarded at the end of the season.”
“We need to carry on this way because we have been playing very well and the next game is home.”
Kone will now be hoping that the clean sheet against the Baggies can be the first of many between now and the end of the season.
The Black Cats certainly need to start picking up points, and fast, as they sit 18th in the table and four points from safety with seven games remaining.
Keeping solid at the back will give them their best possible chance of survival, and Kone will be keen to play his part in doing just that.
