Rodney Marsh defends old Payet verdict by using Manchester United winger

Payet Skill

Rodney Marsh compares Manchester United’s Ashley Young with West Ham United’s Dimitri Payet.

Former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City forward Rodney Marsh has defended his old verdict about West Ham United attacking midfielder Dimitri Payet on social networking site Twitter.

Marsh did not expect much of Payet when he joined West Ham from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille in the summer of 2015.

The France international attacking midfielder has been a massive hit in the Premier League, but has that convinced Marsh?

According to the former England international, Manchester United winger Ashley Young scores more goals and provides more assists, and is more productive than Payet.

Perhaps Young has had a better career than Payet so far - after all, the 30-year-old winger has been at United since 2011 and has earned more international caps - but at the moment the West Ham star is in better form.

Young is a hard-working winger and is also versatile, but Payet is the more talented and is also in better form.

Payet is more exciting and he is actually getting better with age, and there is no doubt that the West Ham attacking midfielder would be in most people’s teams ahead of Young right now.
