Keys made the claim following Payet’s stunning free-kick goal for West Ham against Crystal Palace at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League at the weekend.
The France international found the target from 20 yards with a stunning effort in the 41st minute of the encounter on Saturday afternoon.
Keys has expressed his admiration of Payet’s goal against Palace and has made a bold claim about the 29-year-old.
“How about Payet's latest offering?” Keys wrote on his website. “Stunning. His best yet for me. Seeing it go in on the day took your breath away.
“Two yards from goal you felt it couldn't possibly go in, but it did. He might just be the best I've seen with a dead ball. I mean it, the best ever.”
Payet’s goal against Palace was truly sensational and world class, and the Frenchman has certainly made a case for himself to be counted among the free-kick takers in the world.
However, in recent years there have been others with similar, if not better, dead-ball skills.
Juninho Pernambucano, Ronaldinho and David Beckham are just three of the footballers who regularly stunned the footballing world with their free kicks.
AS Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic and Hakan Calhanoglu of Bayer Leverkusen are just as good as Payet with free kicks at the moment, if not better.
