Report: Southampton tracking the progress of Nurnberg winger Guido Burgstaller

Guido Burgstaller has scored 11 goals for Nurnberg this season, and Southampton have been impressed by his performances.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Southampton are tracking the progress of Nurnberg winger Guido Burgstaller.

Southampton have been scouting the wide-man for some time, and they have recently watched him in action for both Nurnberg and Austria.

Burgstaller impressed during Nurnberg’s 3-0 win over Frankfurt last weekend, and he also featured for his country against Turkey in a friendly.

The 26-year-old’s last spell in English football was a poor one, but Southampton have not been put off by that showing.

Burgstaller failed to make much of an impression after signing for Cardiff City back in 2014, and he departed after making just five appearances for the Welsh side.

However, Burgstaller has impressed for Nurnberg this season, and Ronald Koeman’s side could now be ready to make a bid.

Southampton already have a number of attacking options, but they reportedly feel that Burgstaller would be a valuable addition.

Burgstaller has scored 11 times in 27 matches for Nurnberg this season.
