Report claims Luis Boa Morte has been sent to scout Danilo Pereira by Arsene Wenger

The Porto midfielder is on Arsenal's radar.

Arsenal are being linked today with an odd transfer for defensive midfielder Danilo Pereira of FC Porto.

The report in A Bola in Portugal claims that Arsenal are hoping to get their hands on the impressive midfield maestro – who has been in good form after joining the Portuguese giants from Maritimo.

Arsenal reportedly sent former player turned scout Luis Boa Morte to watch him in action against Tondela at the weekend to see if he was worth a move.

It would however seem odd.

Arsenal finally addressed their defensive midfield issues in January with the acquisition of Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel. The emergence of Francis Coquelin has also helped them in this position so signing Danilo would be an interesting move from the club.

Danilo, who actually began his football education at a junior club called Arsenal 72, has played 37 games for Porto this season and, although not known for his goalscoring, has scored four goals for the club.

The 24-year-old would indeed be a good signing but whether or not Arsenal need the player now is certainly up for debate.
