Jamie Redknapp has told Sky Sports, during their coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Liverpool, that he is eating his words after suggesting that Spurs didn’t have many exciting players in their squad at the start of the season.
Redknapp believed that Tottenham lacked a spark in their side, but he now admits that he got that piece of analysis totally wrong.
Redknapp says that a number of the Lilywhites’ squad have the ability to catch the eye, and he has hailed the improvements the side have made under Mauricio Pochettino’s stewardship.
“I remember saying earlier in the season, I said there’s not too many players that get you off your seat,” the former Spurs midfielder said. “I’m eating my words now, because there’s plenty of them.
“Look at Dele Alli and Harry Kane! Mauricio Pochettino has improved so many players.”
Alli was brought to Spurs from Milton Keynes Dons last summer, and he arrived as a rather unknown talent.
The 19-year-old was tipped to have a bright future at White Hart Lane, but very few people predicted he would have such an impact in his first season.
Alli has become one of Tottenham’s most important attacking players, and he is now playing a key role for club and country.
Kane, meanwhile, has continued his wonderful form and netted over 20 goals in the Premier League for the second season running.
The duo’s good form has helped Tottenham climb up to second place in the table, as they look to win their first ever Premier League title.
