Ian Wright excited about Arsenal, says this is why the future is bright

Ian Wright has been discussing his old club Arsenal after they recorded back-to-back wins with a 4-0 trouncing of Watford last time out.

The Gunners ran out comfortable winners against the Hornets, exacting a measure of revenge after their recent FA Cup quarter-final humbling at the Emirates.

Goals from Alexis Sanchez, Alexander Iwobi, Hector Bellerin and Theo Walcott sealed the win after an impressive performance from Wenger's men.

The victory put the North Londoners four points clear of Manchester City in the last automatic Champions League qualifying spot, although their hopes of winning the title are all but over as they trail Leicester City by 11 points, albeit with a game in hand.

'Future is bright'

But while Arsenal fans have been frustrated at their side's lack of progress, club legend Wright told BBC's Match of the Day there is plenty to be excited about.

"I've got to say in Iwobi and Wellbeck, I'm really excited about that partnership," Wright told MOTD.

"But I think we have to look at the top man, Sanchez, I think he's back to his best.

"I think watching him a few weeks back and games before, he was running down alleys trying to do too much.

"But now I think he's back to his best, gets his goal... but it's just great to see him busy, moving. Great to see."

Hail and pace

Wright's praise for Arsenal could be a bit misplaced considering the club has failed to take advantage of the most open Premier League season in recent memory.

Cynics would say Arsenal are only rediscovering their best form now the sun is shining and the pressure is off.

But Wenger must look to build for next season now and as Wright points out, the youthful partnership of Wellbeck and Iwobi could be the perfect foil for star man Sanchez.

All the finest Arsenal teams were packed with pace and with those three the Gunners will have that and then some.
