Dimitri Payet is a man on fire at the moment, scoring three stunning free-kicks over the last fortnight.
He followed up his efforts against Manchester United and for France versus Russia with another spectacular strike at the weekend in the 2-2 draw with a beleaguered Crystal Palace.
Former Premier League midfielder turned pundit Jamie Redknapp told The Mail he has only seen one player in England's top flight with better dead ball ability than Payet, and that is former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
He said: "The flight of the ball was so high and the dip was venomous. I don’t know how you stop that. He went for the keeper’s side and the keeper was still nowhere near it.
"Was this the best I’ve seen? Almost. Ronaldo’s incredible strike against Portsmouth in January 2008 just pips it.
"He changed the way people hit the ball - all power and swerve - and when he scored all I could think was: ‘How on earth has he done that?"
Ronaldo's strike against Portsmouth was certainly special, but the three time Ballon d'Or winner's effort had a touch of Roberto Carlos about it, with the Real Madrid man struggling to emulate it during the course of his career on a consistent basis.
For Payet to score three superb free-kicks so close together says a lot about his ability, that there is no fortune involved, just hard work and majestic talent, and West Ham and the Premier League in general are fortunate to bear witness to them - with many more likely to follow.
