Steve Evans explains what Casper Sloth must do to start for Leeds United

Casper Sloth has not made an appearance for Leeds United all season.

Steve Evans has suggested to BBC Radio Leeds that Casper Sloth needs to start performing if he wants he wants to break back into Leeds United’s first team.

Sloth has not made a single appearance for Leeds this campaign, and his future at Elland Road appears to be in serious doubt.

The Danish midfielder has failed to break into Leeds’ team under a succession of different managers, and Evans suggests that he will need to start showing more for the development squad if he wants an opportunity between now and the end of the season.

“The first thing you have to do is you have to convince him that you’re better than what’s there,” Evans said. “I elevated Casper into the first team group when I first arrived, but you have to produce consistently.

“For Casper it’s quite clear, he has to produce the performances that will see him start in front of players.

“I’m not the only head coach to take the decision that others sit in front of him.

“He’s trying hard, but sometimes we need a little bit more.”

Sloth has actually performed well at under-21 level for Leeds, but he has rarely featured in the first-team.

Although the 24-year-old was included in some match day squads during Evans’ initial time at Elland Road he has fallen completely out of favour again now.

Sloth's last appearance for Leeds actually came back in February 2015, leaving his future firmly up in the air ahead of the summer transfer window.
