The duo have formed an impressive partnership in the Gunners midfield.
The pair have formed a solid partnership in the heart of the midfield in recent weeks, with their excellent defensive displays helping the Gunners to return to winning ways.
Elneny in particular has impressed quickly proving himself to have been a smart capture by Wenger in the January transfer window.
And Wenger was keen to praise their offensive talents too, saying that having two defensive minded midfielders has brought a better balance to his side.
“Both of them are improving offensively,” he told Arsenal.com.
“When Coquelin plays with Cazorla, Coquelin is the defensive player which made them a perfect pair. Then Coquelin focused more on defending and Cazorla more on attacking.
“Now both [Elneny and Coquelin] share the job, so the balance is a bit [better]. They’re more similar. We have four attackers in front of them so we need people who can defend well in central midfield.”
Saturday’s win over Watford was arguably the best the two have played for the Gunners so far.
Elneny was in particularly fine form as he posted a number of impressive stats, such as his tally of 143 touches and 122 accurate passes.
As already mentioned he is looking like a smart signing for the club, and it will be interesting to see who Wenger goes with when he has the likes of Cazorla and Jack Wilshere back fit.
Those two would arguably be ahead of Elneny in his ideal line up, but given how the Egyptian is performing, it would be cruel to drop him any time soon.
