Tottenham Hotspur drew 1-1 with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
Kane scored Spurs’ equaliser at Anfield, with a wonderful finish in the second-half.
However, Wright felt that the 22-year-old could have had a hat-trick if he was more clinical in front of goal.
“I didn’t think he was at top, top form,” the former Arsenal striker said. “Sakho was doing everything in his power to help him score a few more goals.
“There were a couple of chances which I felt earlier in the season he would have buried them. He looked a bit tight. But you have to say it was top draw the way he took his goal.”
Kane has now moved on to 22 goals during the Premier League season - a feat which no other Spurs player has ever achieved.
The England international has been handed a great amount of responsibility at White Hart Lane, but he has thrived under the pressure.
Kane’s form has elevated Spurs into title contention, but it is looking increasing likely that Leicester City will finish ahead of them.
Leicester are seven points clear at the top of the table now, but Wright insists that Spurs cannot be trying any harder to keep the pressure on Claudio Ranieri’s men.
“Tottenham cannot do any more than they’re doing,” Wright said. “Away to Liverpool is tough.”
Spurs’ next match comes against Manchester United on White Hart Lane on Sunday.
