Everton boss Roberto Martinez has told the Liverpool Echo that Gerard Deulofeu should have a very strong end to the campaign.
Deulofeu has dropped out of favour at Goodison Park more recently, with Martinez favouring other options over the talented Spanish winger.
However, the 22-year-old was recalled to Everton’s starting line-up for their match against Manchester United yesterday.
Deulofeu played 60 minutes against Louis van Gaal’s side, and Martinez has suggested that the youngster could now stay in his team for the remainder of the campaign.
“I think Gerard Deulofeu is going to be very strong between now and the end of the season,” Martinez said.
“He's played a lot of games this season and probably after 60 minutes there was a bit of a need to get new energy on the pitch.”
Deulofeu has been one of Everton’s main creators this season, but he was unable to show his top form at Old Trafford.
Although the Spanish youth international showed flashes of quality, he could not stop Everton falling to a 1-0 defeat.
Everton’s loss to United has seen them remain in 12th place in the Premier League table, with the pressure continuing to rise on Martinez.
