Former Manchester United and Everton coach Steve Round said on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 10am, April 1) that Queens Park Rangers will challenge for promotion next season.
Rangers are playing in the Championship at the moment after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the last season.
It is unlikely that QPR will finish in the top six of the league table this campaign and make it into the playoffs.
Round believes that under manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, the London outfit will make a push for promotion to the Premier League next season.
“I think he will develop into a really really good manager and he has turned things around at QPR,” said Round on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (broadcast from 10am, April 1).
“Slowly and surely he has started to get them into the place that he wants them ready for next season. I think they will have a real strong promotion push next year with Jimmy.”
Hasselbaink was appointed as the QPR boss in December, and results under him have not been great.
There have been some encouraging signs under the former Leeds United striker, and he will look to build on them in the coming years.
If Hasselbaink is able to sign the players he wants in the summer transfer window, then QPR will be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship next season.
