According to The Sun, Chelsea are keeping tabs on Southampton’s Fraser Forster ahead of the summer transfer window.
The report claims that the Blues are considering making a move for the Southampton star should regular number one goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois leave for La Liga giants Real Madrid at the end of the season.
Forster joined the Saints from Scottish side Celtic in the summer of 2014 and has since become the club’s number of shot-stopper on the south coast, impressing on more than one level.
After suffering a long-term injury, Forster’s comeback earlier in the campaign sparked an improvement in Southampton’s results and his presence helped the club keep six consecutive clean sheets.
After breaking Southampton’s record time without conceding, ending at 708 minutes of league action, Forster earned an England call-up and featured against both Germany and the Netherlands.
The 28-year-old’s rise to the top hasn’t gone unnoticed, as a previous report in The Sun claimed that Liverpool were keen to sign him this summer to add to their collection of ex-Saints stars at Anfield.
The Reds, however, have company in the form of Chelsea and the West London club are said to be in pole position regarding a potential £20 million move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
A lot will depend on the future of Courtois, but Forster’s brilliance won’t limit the interest from fellow Premier League clubs alone as Barcelona are also said to be keen as illustrated in the report in The Sun.
